Day 1 - Hobart - Strahan

Travel into the heart of Tasmania’s World Heritage wilderness. At Lake St. Clair enjoy the fresh, crisp, alpine air along the shores of Australia’s deepest lake. Visit ‘The Wall’, a unique art project where sculptor Greg Duncan is creating a 100 meter long wall of wooden relief sculptures depicting Tasmania’s stories. Arrive at the quaint village of Strahan on the West Coast, stop by and admire the Franklin River and the stunning Nelson Waterfalls.

Day 2 - Gordon River Cruise - Corinna

Cruise across Macquarie Harbour to the tranquil Gordon River, which is sure to be one of the highlights of your Tasmanian adventure.

First stop is Heritage Landing in the rainforest, where you will take a walk among ancient, temperate, rainforest trees, many of them Gondwanan relicts.

You can then explore the world of convicts on Sarah Island, the site of Tasmania’s most remote and notorious convict settlement.

On your return to Strahan continue to Corinna, a restored historic settlement set on the Pieman River, on the southern boundary of the Tarkine, with access by gravel road and vehicle barge only.

Day 3 - Piemann River - Corinna

Today, experience the highly regarded Pieman River Cruise, with excellent commentary, stunning reflections, freedom from other vessels and a truly personal experience with the river and rainforest. The cruise passes close to the wreck of the SS Croydon at the mouth of the Savage River, and to Lover’s Falls near the mouth of the Donaldson. This is an uplifting and authentic experience, rich in history, nature and personal anecdotes.

Day 4 - Corinna - Cradle Mountain National Park

Leaving Corinna you begin on the journey to UNESCO World Heritage listed Cradle Mountain National Park (keep an eye out for wombats). On the way, you have the opportunity to go for a bushwalk in the forest before settling into your accommodation for the evening.

Day 5 - Cradle Mountain National Park

The next activity is a bush walk in the National Park, the Dove Lake Circuit. During this walk you will become immersed in the beauty and majesty of this ancient land. Learn about native flora and fauna along the way, with highlights including the ballroom forest and lakeside beaches.

Day 6 - Cradle Mountain - Narawntapu National Park

Depart Cradle Mountain and meet Tasmania’s North Coast. Travel through the village of Sheffield, a town filled with quirky and historical murals depicting Tasmanian life. In the evening, enjoy a wildlife spotlighting expedition in Narawntapu National Park, home to an abundance of kangaroos, wombats, wallabies and many other marsupials. With a bit of luck and a lot of patience, you may also be rewarded with a glimpse of a Tasmanian Devil!

Day 7 - Hawley Beach - Binalong Bay

Wake up to a relaxed morning in a traditional Tasmanian homestead before departing for the East Coast. Travel to the internationally acclaimed Bay of Fires, a region of white beaches, crystal clear waters and granite splashed with orange lichen. Stop in at the village of Pyengana, renowned for its artisan cheeses! Then stretch your legs with a rainforest walk to St Columba Falls. The east coast will greet you with its expansive white-sand beaches. Our overnight destination is Binalong Bay, the entrance to the Bay of Fires and one of Tasmania’s most beautiful beaches.

Day 8 - Bay of Fires Reserve - Mt. William National Park

Today, explore the Bay of Fires Reserve and Mt. William National Park, one of the world’s great coastal regions, stretching 35 km north of Binalong Bay. A walk along the granite coastline or on one of the many beaches, will allow you to marvel at the colourful red and orange rocks lining the coast. Spend the evening relaxing at your accommodation, with views stretching from your treetop location to the shores of the ocean.

Day 9 - Freycinet National Park

After breakfast travel to Freycinet National Park. Today, there will be ample time to explore the unsurpassed beauty of the Freycinet Peninsula and take an interpreted walk to the world famous Wineglass Bay lookout for some stunning photo opportunities. A shorter cliff top walk around the lighthouse at Cape Tourville is also on offer.

Day 10 - Freycinet Peninsula - Hobart Departure

Enjoy a leisure morning before travelling to Hobart. Dine for lunch at one of Tasmania’s boutique wineries, followed by a visit to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary to experience our Tasmanian Devils, Wombats, Wallabies, Quolls and other Australian animals first hand. This dedicated team of wildlife carers provide an invaluable service to the research and protection of native wildlife in Tasmania. Continue to your accommodation or Hobart airport where your guide will bid you farewell.
